The one who descends into his own basic layer leaves behind all feelings of life, all thoughts and possibilities, and is where he will be after death, in the timeless, unchanging, where there is no more "I" and "not-I", but the identity of everything with everything, an indivisible infinity. It is not a swooning darkness, but a luminous radiance, a radiant action without action, a total love without feeling; an eternal changelessness, yet not a frozen state, but a supernaturalness of change, in which all variables are included, like the possibility of sleep in wakefulness.

Aki leszáll saját alap-rétegébe, ilyenkor maga mögött hagy minden életbeli érzést, minden gondolatot és lehetőséget, s ott van, ahol majd halála után, az időtlenben, változatlanban, ahol nincs többé”én” és”nem-én”, hanem mindennek mindennel azonossága, tagolatlan végtelenség. Nem ájult sötétség ez, hanem fényentúli ragyogás, tett nélküli sugárzó működés, érzéstelen teljes szeretet; örök változatlanság, mégsem megdermedés, hanem változásfelettiség, melyben minden változó is bennerejlik, akár az ébrenlétben az alvás lehetősége.

Majoritatea oamenilor cred că la moarte vor fi anihilați sau că vor trăi fără trup în spațiu și timp. Moartea nu este o anihilare și nici o continuare a vieții; odată cu moartea se dizolvă tot ceea ce este partea temporală, schimbătoare a omului: corpul, sentimentul, intelectul, întreaga personalitate; rămâne gol stratul de bază, în care nu există nicio posibilitate de schimbare, de creație, de distrugere.
Nu ființa omului încetează, ci ființa sa separată. Astăzi, omul poate cu greu să distingă între încetarea ființei sale și încetarea ființei sale separate: el își poate imagina doar ființa sa fără separarea sa, fără corpul său, sentimentele sale, conștiința sa, temporalitatea sa, caracterul său schimbător, ca pe o stare de leșin, de somn profund. Dar trecerea de la existența separată la existența impersonală, reală, nu este o diminuare, nici măcar o intensificare infinită; nu este un somn adânc, ci mai degrabă o plinătate de vigilență, în comparație cu care chiar și cea mai trează stare de viață este doar o ezitare orbitoare.
Cel care coboară în propriul strat de bază lasă în urmă toate sentimentele vieții, toate gândurile și posibilitățile, și se află acolo unde va fi după moarte, în atemporal, neschimbător, unde nu mai există "eu" și "nu eu", ci identitatea a tot cu tot, un infinit indivizibil.
