For the child, there is no group therapy, psychologist or psychiatrist who would help him cope with something lurking under the bed or hiding in the basement at night, barking, gesturing and threatening where he can no longer see. Each night is the scene of the same lonely struggle; the only cure is the curdling of the imagination - which comes with growing up.
