Achieving wholeness is infinitely easy and infinitely difficult. It is as easy and as difficult as saying these three words without lying and self-deception: 'I'm completely pure.' But there are, very few, simple poor people who, without striving for it and without knowing it, possess perfection. All their feelings, thoughts, intentions are pure, everything is good for them as it happens to be offered; if they have to lose property, health, family, life: they resign themselves to that without difficulty. Their life is quiet and peaceful, and their peace can be violated by no one and nothing. From their words you may not derive much, but from their being you may derive the universe itself.
These peaceful, happy people will not attain to perfection, to heaven: they are already there, there is no power that can add to them or take from them. They live on an endless high mountain, from which there is no further.

A teljességet elérni végtelenül könnyű és végtelenül nehéz. Oly könnyű és oly nehéz, mint ezt a három szót kimondani hazugság és öncsalás nélkül: „Teljesen tiszta vagyok.” De vannak, igen kevesen, egyszerű szegény emberek, kik anélkül, hogy törekedtek volna rá és anélkül, hogy tudnának róla, a teljességet birtokolják. Minden érzésük, gondolatuk, szándékuk tiszta, minden jó nekik úgy, ahogy éppen kínálkozik; ha veszíteniük kell, vagyontárgyakat, egészséget, családtagot, életet: abba is nehézség nélkül belenyugodnak. Életük csöndes-vidám, békéjüket nem sértheti senki és semmi. Szavaikból nem sokat meríthetsz, de lényükből magát a mindenséget.

Ezek a békés, boldog emberek nem fognak a teljességbe, a mennybe jutni: máris ott vannak, nincs az a hatalom, mely valamit is adhatna még nekik, vagy elvehetne tőlük. Végtelen magas hegyen élnek, ahonnan nincs tovább.

Atingerea plenitudinii este infinit de ușoară și infinit de dificilă. Este la fel de ușor și la fel de dificil ca și rostirea acestor trei cuvinte fără minciună și autoamăgire: "Sunt perfect pur". Dar există, foarte puțini, oameni simpli și săraci care, fără să lupte pentru asta și fără să știe, posedă perfecțiunea. Toate sentimentele, gândurile, intențiile lor sunt pure, totul este bun pentru ei, așa cum se întâmplă să le fie oferit; dacă trebuie să piardă proprietatea, sănătatea, familia, viața: se resemnează cu asta fără dificultate. Viața lor este liniștită și pașnică, iar pacea lor nu poate fi încălcată de nimeni și de nimic. Din cuvintele lor s-ar putea să nu extragi prea multe, dar din ființa lor poți extrage universul însuși.
Acești oameni pașnici și fericiți nu vor ajunge la perfecțiune, la rai: ei sunt deja acolo, nu există nicio putere care să le poată adăuga sau lua de la ei. Ei trăiesc pe un munte înalt și nesfârșit, de la care nu se mai poate pleca.
