People are not converted by sermons, but by circumstances. What actually happens is not that we think ourselves into a new form of life, but that we live into a new form of thinking. That is why it is important to present ourselves in situations and challenges in which we do not already have the means to control and solve the situation well in advance, where we do not enter as a victorious general, and where it is not even certain that we will show our best form.
