A Piros kendő mindig ott virít előttünk. (...) Megszületik a gyermekünk, alig várjuk, hogy fölálljon, ha föláll, hogy szaladjon, ha szalad, hogy beszéljen; majd arra vagyunk büszkék, hogy tud végre olvasni; szurkolunk, hogy sikerüljenek a vizsgái, hogy sikere legyen, érje el a célját, legyen egyre gazdagabb, ismertebb, hatalmasabb, és találja meg nagy nehezen a párját, aki előtt szintén ott lóg egy Piros kendő, amit ő sem tudott idáig elérni. És immár együtt loholnak tovább. Nem élvezik sem önmagukat, sem egymást, sem az életüket... Mert hol van még a kendő?!
