What makes the earth go round is not the pursuit of pleasure, but the renunciation of all that is important. Does the soldier go into battle to kill the enemy? No: he goes to die for his country. Do women like it when their husbands can see how satisfied they are? No: they want you to see how devoted, self-sacrificing, and how much she suffers to make him happy. Does the man work to realize himself? No: he gives every drop of sweat and tears to support his family. And so on: children give up their dreams for the sake of their parents, parents give up life for the sake of their children. Through pain and suffering, they prove to each other what should only bring joy to their lives: their love.
