Divine love, i.e. love of God, can only be known through love towards enemies. Above all, they must be loved in order to cause those beneficial consequences that love brings. If we were to think of life in terms of space and time, we can imagine how our consciousnesses originate in the consciousnesses of the particles making up the body of the one who has consciousness, and out of our consciousnesses of separate beings is composed the consciousness of one supreme separate being, which it will have the same relation to us that we have to the particles of our body. These beings seem huge to us, but neither size nor number has limits (the stars).

Iubirea dumnezeiasca, adică iubirea de Dumnezeu, poate fi cunoscută numai prin iubirea față de dușmani. Mai ales ei trebuie iubiți pentru a provoca acele urmări benefice pe care le aduce iubirea. Dacă ar fi să cugetăm despre viața în forma spațiului și timpului, putem să ne imaginăm cum conștiințele noastre își au originea în conștiințele particulelor alcătuind corpul celui care are conștiința, iar din conștiințele noastre de ființe separate se compune conștiința unei singure ființe separate supreme, care va avea cu noi aceeași relație pe care noi o avem cu particulele corpului nostru. Aceste ființe ni se par uriașe, dar nici dimensiunea, nici numărul nu are limite (stelele).
