Budiștii spun că, la fel cum bătrânii uită tot trecutul, sufletele nou-născute nu-și mai amintesc viețile precedente. Am putea adăuga că, apropiindu-ne de moarte (de bătrânețe), nu numai că uităm trecutul, dar ne dispare orice interes față de viitor, adică ieșim din viața efemeră și ne apropiem de începutul atemporal al vieții, de Dumnezeu.
