But we throw down the lever, jump on the table, cling to it with our arms, trying to lift it, and not only do we succeed in nothing, but by our burden we increase its weight. Oamenii stau în fața unei greutăți uriașe, pe care trebuie s-o ridice. Iată, de exemplu, masa în jurul căreia stăm. Fiecare dintre noi are conștiința religioasă, pârghia pe care dacă o acționăm vom mișca masa. Dar noi aruncăm pârghia, sărim pe masa, ne agățăm de ea cu brațele, încercând s-o ridicăm și nu numai că nu reusim nimic, dar prin povara noastră sporim greutatea ei. Toți revoluționarii fac asta.
