Marii poeți au scris, nu pentru o minoritate inițiată, ci pentru toți oamenii. Aceasta nu înseamnă să luăm afirmația în răspăr și să spunem că orice poezie pe care o înțeleg toți oamenii e mare, ci numai că fiecare poezie într-adevăr mare poate fi înțeleasă de imensa majoritate a cititorilor.
