In romance novels, the "single twinkle in the eye" has been so hackneyed that in the end it has almost become a joke. Nowadays, hardly anyone would dare to say about a couple that "seeing and falling in love with each other was the work of a moment". But that's how people fall in love with each other, and that's the only way. What else contributes is all a contribution and only comes later. There is no more tangible reality than the elemental shock of two souls when this spark snaps into each other.
