And in this state, man interacts delicately, gallantly, and in a friendly, respectful way with his own kind, because only he, the man, is noble, and not the opposites. Man is the master of opposites, opposites exist only through him, and consequently man is superior to them. Nobler than death, too noble for death: this is the freedom of his mind. Nobler than life, too noble for life: this is the piety of his heart.
