There can be no greater slavery than when a person, without caring about God, allows himself to be subjugated by others in a miserable way, that is, he submits to created things over which he should rule, and defies God, to whom he owes obedience. Oh, mortals, let us understand that there is only one, one being above us, our creator Lord and our future judge: he alone has the power to command us, but he does not command as slaves, but calls us to obey as his children, willing that even by obeying to be free and unbound.
