"A virágüzletben sokáig válogattam, s végül egy szál rózsát vettem, mert ez a legelegánsabb s a legolcsóbb. Amíg a növényt csomagolták, ezt mondtam: - Maga a szerelemből és a halálból él, mint a regényírók. Árulja el, melyik a jobb üzlet? (...) - Napjainkban a halál.
