Az első ember, akinek eszébe jutott, hogy egy darabka földet elkerítvén így szóljon: ez az enyém, s aki elég együgyű embereket talált, hogy ezt elhiggyék, volt a polgári társadalom megalapítója. Mennyi bűntől, háborútól és gyilkosságtól, mennyi nyomorúságtól mentette volna meg az emberi nemet, aki ekkor kihúzza a karókat, betemeti az árkot, s azt kiáltja felebarátainak: őrizkedjetek attól, hogy erre a csalóra hallgassatok! Elvesztek, ha elfelejtitek, hogy a föld gyümölcse mindenkié, a föld viszont senkié.
