Da, trebuie să ne deprindem să iubim, așa cum înveți să cânți la vioară. Dar ce-i de făcut dacă totul ni se pare dezgustător la acel om, ba mai e și plin de sine? Suntem tentați să-l disprețuim, iar asta ar fi contrar iubirii. Să-l evităm? Da, dar trebuie să fim gata să-l iubim. Iar pentru asta e nevoie: 1) să cercetăm atent dacă nu cumva cauza dezgustului nostru e ceva personal, o jignire a orgoliului sau ceva asemănător; 2) să nu ne amintim sau să nu gândim despre el ceva lipsit de bunătate.
